It's Krishna's birthday tomorrow and the preparations have already begun all over India to celebrate his birthday. He is the 8th avatar of Vishnu who is believed to have lived a very simple and human life. Where in some parts his birthday is celebrated with the function of Dahi-Handi, while in some as a drama depiction of his "Ras-Leela". 1. Krishna as Protector of Women

We have grown up listening to the tale of how he saved Draupadi from the traumatising situation of "cheer haran" and didn't let the evil win over good. Well, he was always a gentleman. When a demon had kidnapped 16,100 women and kept them captive in his kingdom, Krishna fought the demon and rescued those women. The women were petrified to go back to their village as nobody would have accepted them so they asked Krishna to marry them all. And, following his art of chivalry Krishna did not refuse and married them all.

2. Krishna as a Friend

With due respect to all our 33 crores deities, probably Krishna is the only one whom we can consider to be our friend. You'll see a lot of people speaking their hearts out to him like we do with our friends. In fact, our vedic literature also says that Lord Krishna is our original friend from whom we don't have to hide or mold the truth and also, the only one who can guide us to the right path. As this world is his creation and we all are his creatures, our friendship with him is soulful and blissful. “All of them–As they surrender unto Me–I reward accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Prtha [Arjuna].”

3. Krishna as a Food Lover

Not to deny, his tales depict he was a foodie like us! In fact, not much difference between our mothers hiding cookies and chocolates and Yashoda Maiya hiding makhan. Don't we all relate to his mischievous act of stealing to end his makhan craving?

4. Krishna as a Teacher

Everybody is aware of his teachings in the holy book GITA. He led a very simple life with meaningful life lessons. In the battlefield, Krishna did not fight physically and gave Arjuna practical and tactful ways. His teachings are not only restricted to India or Hinduism but to many across the world. One of his famous teachings is on Karma- do your 'Karma', not to garner result or success but to do good. This will eventually be beneficial for you.

5. Krishna as True Lover

He just loved one woman his entire life- RADHA. He married Rukmani and seven other principal queens and also the rescued 16,100 women. But, his relationship with Radha is known for its soulful and divine existence. There are various stories of why he didn't marry Radha but none is clear. However, a lot of unmarried/married couples worship Radha-Krishna to get their blessings for eternal love. BTW, it's also said that they were childhood sweethearts. *Aww* A friend, a philosopher, a guide, he is the reason of our existence and we are part of him.
