Manu, the first law giver to the world says ‘Narinam Yantra Pujyante Tatra Tishante Debata’ means in a household ‘Shree the Goddess Lakshmi and Stria are alike’. Since ancient times female deities are propitiated and we learn this in astrology as well. The nine planets in astrology are represented by different incarnation of Maa Durga and are accordingly propitiated. Goddess Shailputri represents Sun, Goddess Brahmacharini represents Saturn, Goddess Chandraghanta represents Moon, Goddess Kushmanda represents Jupiter, Goddess Skandamata represents Mars, Goddess Katyayani represents Venus, Goddess Kalratri represents Rahu, Goddess Maha Gauri represents Mercury and Goddess Siddhidatri represents Ketu. To interpret the famous proverb ‘Behind Every Successful Man There is a Woman’ let us analyse success astrologically in following two parts:

Success in Materialistic World:

A woman plays a pivotal role during different stages of an individual life right from birth. As a Mother (signified by Moon), as a Sister (signified by Mars for younger siblings and Jupiter for elder siblings), as a Spouse (signified by Venus), as a Daughter (signified by Jupiter), as a Friend (signified by Venus along with Mercury). The timing of conception in case of female) is important as the seventh house (sexual union) in the natal chart gets influenced by the rising sign and planetary influences (aspect by benefic or malefic planets) at that moment forms various impressions on the child to take birth (male or female). Astrologically, woman can uplift the destiny (praarabdh) of a native (Man). This can be inferred analysing the planetary position in the natal chart (horoscope) of the native (Man). Couple of examples below: Venus posited in Second house to Saturn shows prosperity after marriage. Before I highlight another example let me share a perspective. We have heard of ‘Lady Luck’ and the lady can be in any of the relations (Mother, Sister, Spouse, Daughter). Let’s take the example of daughter. In the daughter’s natal chart there are planetary positions that can be inferred for fortune particularly for the father. Example: in the daughter natal chart strength of the ninth house/ exalted planets posited in ninth house. The fortune post marriage of the daughter influences the spouse destiny. Influence of Venus on Karma Sthan (tenth house signifying profession in the natal chart) shows gains with support from female staff/ colleagues. In case a woman has Jupiter posited in the first House (lagna), it is considered auspicious and fortunate. Historically, in India women were largely managing family and contributing towards upliftment of family and society at large. Men were prominently facing the outside world. Today, women work together with men in all professions. What influence does this change have on destiny of men……ever wondered!!! In fact, it has complemented further to the prosperity of the Family and Nation. The potential has surfaced up fully.

Success in Spiritualistic World:

There are four Purusartha (aim of a human being) in life viz. DAKM. D - Dharma (righteousness), A - Artha (material prosperity), K - Kama (pleasure, love, desire with or without sexual connotations) and M - Moksha (liberation from rebirth). Moksha is the ultimate aim and should be pursued after fulfilling DAK. The Purusarthas' sequence denotes that one must adhere to Dharma, achieve Artha and Kama through Dharma and utilize such achievements to gradually progress towards moksha. All the four Purusarthas DAKM are signified in the twelve houses in the natal chart viz. Dharma from House 1, 5 & 9. Artha from House 2, 6 & 10. Kama from House 3, 7 & 11. Moksha from House 4, 8 & 12. Along with same specifically influence of Ketu and Twelfth House is analysed for Mokhsa. Woman plays a significant role in a man’s life while on the path to attain Moksha by supporting in Dharma, Artha and Kama. Consort plays pivotal role in religious procedures (Dharma), discharging family obligations (Artha), fulfilling desires (Kama) before progressing towards Moksha. It is pertinent to note that the natal chart should be seen as a whole to arrive at any firm conclusion. Position of planets in a particular zodiac sign, their aspects, inherent results (malefic, benefic), strength of planets and combinations which they form in various houses in the natal chart has to be analysed and interpreted collectively. Along with same planetary transit is critical and should be considered.
