She is worshipped in the hope that in the new 'financial year' of trading she will bring wealth.Astrologically on Diwali sun and moon are placed in the sign Libra. On Diwali especially after 12 at night if we pray we merge our personal energy with the energy of universe. Sun our “soul” meet moon our “mind” in the sign of wealth and prosperity it is believed to bring great wealth in our life. The lighting of lamps is a way of paying obeisance to god for attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace, valor and fame. First light five pieces of ghee diyas (lamps) in front of the deities and make panchamitra with five ingredients of milk, curd, ghee (clarified butter), sugar & Honey. A silver coin is placed in front of the Goddess during the puja. Make offerings of flowers, abir (red colour), sindoor (vermillion), haldi (turmeric), and Light the Agarbatti (incense sticks). Traditional sweets are offered to the Goddess and Aarti of Goddess Laxmi is sung. During the puja shut your eyes, withdraw the senses, concentrate on this supreme light and illuminate the soul. After the puja leave one lamp before the deity and rest should be placed in the four corners of the house.
