The book of Deuteronomy is all about how God fulfilled His promise to the Israelites of bringing them to the land He swore to their forefathers. God gave them a land “flowing with milk and honey,” which means that it was a land bountiful with resources, opportunities for wealth and good things that would benefit the Israelites. If God can do this for the Israelites, then He can help you in your financial situation, too. It is essential that you trust in God’s promise to provide when you are in need and remember that only He can fulfill you with true riches.

Proverbs 13:22

“The good leave an inheritance to their children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the just.” — Proverbs 13:22. This verse reveals two opposite scenarios. The first is an example of a generous person who stores up their wealth wisely so even their grandchildren can inherit some. The second is someone who stores up their money selfishly, but they’ll lose their money to just people. The main difference between these two examples is who the person is storing up their money for — themselves, or their posterity. Consider changing your perspective on your finances to be more selfless and just. Pray that God will intervene in your financial hardship so you can better bless the less fortunate and the people He has placed in your life.

Ecclesiastes 10:19

“A feast is made for merriment and wine gives joy to the living, but money answers for everything.” — Ecclesiastes 10:19. Here, King Solomon shares some simple truths about life. People feast and drink wine to enjoy moments of merriment and celebration. Likewise, people need money for almost everything within society. Buying, selling, settling disputes, paying off debts — it all comes back to money. Money lets nations trade with one another and stimulates economies. On a smaller scale, money is what lets you keep the lights on in your house and pay for your other necessities. God is aware of your unique situation and your struggles, so pray that He can give you the resources you need to make ends meet and live comfortably within your means. If you have excess money, ask God to show you the people and communities you can bless financially.

Proverbs 30:8

“Put falsehood and lying far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; provide me only with the food I need…” — Proverbs 30:8. In the previous verse, we saw how we need money for so much in our lives. But at the same time, money can cause some issues — both the lack of it and the excess of it.

In this verse, the author asks God to put falsehood away from him, which is something we can all understand. Then, he asks God to also put poverty and riches from him. We can probably relate to wanting to escape poverty, but why would the author ask to not be given riches?

Too often, people start to rely on their money more than God the richer they get. The author of this proverb is hinting that all we truly need in this life are the bare necessities and fulfillment in Christ. Seek to practice contentment and gratitude today, whatever your monetary circumstances may be.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you — oracle of the LORD — plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11. Many people have chosen this verse as their favorite, memorizing it for encouragement throughout every chapter of life. In life, you’re going to face ups and downs. But through it all, God has a plan. Remember that God wants to take you through difficult times into better ones. Whatever you’re experiencing, remember God has plans for your well-being in store for you.

St. Expeditus denied Satan, saying that today would be the day he would become a believer. For many years, Catholics have invoked St. Expeditus when they need fast deliverance from a trial.
