What is God's rock?

David, in his near fatalities with death, aptly describes God as the rock of his life over twelve times in the Psalms. Justifiably, David called God his rock because God was his strength, his support, his defence, Who enabled him to subdue his enemies, and gave him victories in battles.

David, like Moses also used the metaphor “rock” to describe God. In Psalm 18:2, he depicted God as his rock. “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalms 18:2 NKJV). Later in verse 46 of the same chapter, David exults God this way, “The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted!” (Psalms 18:46 NLT) Why would David exult God and call Him his rock three times in verses 2, 31 and 46 in one Psalm? As stated in our earlier series, a rock is a symbol of stability, permanence, strength, dependability, and steadfastness. A rock stresses the unchanging nature of God, in contrast to the fickle and unstable nature of Israel. A rock stresses the faithfulness of God, unlike unstable Israel. David, in his near fatalities with death, aptly describes God as the rock of his life over twelve times in the Psalms. Justifiably, David called God his rock because God was his strength, his support, his defence, Who enabled him to subdue his enemies, and gave him victories in battles. He found shelter and safety in God, when his life was under serious threats, “The ropes of death entangled me; floods of destruction swept over me. The grave wrapped its ropes around me; death laid a trap in my path. But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears” (Psalms 18:4-6 NLT). God was his rock because he armed him with strength, when his strength failed him. He strengthened David to overcome formidable obstacles, which he likened to scaling through a wall, verse 29. Then in verse 31, David asked, “For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock?” (Psalms 18:31 NLT). Twice in verses 32 and 39, he affirms that God armed him with the strength to make war and to fight battles, “He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow” (Psalms 18:34 NLT). David regarded God as his rock because He delivered his enemies into his hand. As verses 40-42 reads, “You have also given me the necks of my enemies, So that I destroyed those who hated me. They cried out, but there was none to save; Even to the LORD, but He did not answer them. Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind; I cast them out like dirt in the streets.”

(Psalms 18:40-42 NKJV).

David acknowledges that God made him head over the nations, and for that reason, God was his rock, “You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; You have made me the head of the nations; A people I have not known shall serve me. As soon as they hear of me they obey me; The foreigners submit to me. The foreigners fade away, And come frightened from their hideouts” (Psalms 18:43-45 NKJV). After all the adversities he went through, David’s end was an interesting one. God brought him to a broad place, a place of safety. As he acknowledges, “He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.” (Psalms 18:19 NLT). May we, like Israel and David, sing the song that God is the Rock of our lives. 1945-S Wheat Penny The 1945-S penny was produced by the San Francisco mint and reflected the smallest produced number of the three coins. It is also a reasonably inexpensive coin condition and error pending, with values for average coins commanding less than a dollar at around 15 cents.

All coin productions produce some coins that have errors. 1945 wheat pennies are no different. Just because your penny has an error doesn’t mean it’s extremely valuable, but it may. Some errors are more common than others, and even then, the condition of those error coins still is extremely important. If you do feel that your 1945 wheat penny has an error and it is in good condition, having it graded may be the best course of action. Some more common errors in these coins are called cut errors, lamination errors, broad struck, and double die errors. $100-$700, while some rare errors have brought between $3000-$7000, still below the record of $14,400 for the rare 1945-D, Denver mint coin in MS 70 condition sold in 2019.
