When it comes to your personal living space, it’s common knowledge that “crowded spaces create a crowded mind” and keeping a clean and beautiful interior supports emotional well-being. Did you know the same is true with the colors you bring into your home?

With color psychology we discuss that there are different emotions you can create solely based on the color you choose for your interiors. Here, we are going to be talking about the positive colors you can bring into your space to create a well balanced and positive energy within your dwelling.

Color Psychology

Did you know that colors can subconsciously affect the way you perceive things? The color of a certain food can persuade you to try it or stay away from it, the same goes with the dominant colors you see when you first enter a room. This is in reference to color psychology, the study of hues to see how a color can affect a person’s behavior. Artists and interior designers have long believed that color can dramatically affect emotions, moods, and feelings. Colors in the red area are considered “warm” colors (red, orange, yellow) and create a sense of warmth and coziness but can also range to hostility and passion. Then there is the blue spectrum of the color wheel evoking a “cool” sense of emotion (blue, purple, green). These colors are seen as peaceful but can also bring about feelings of sadness or isolation. The best colors to bring into your home come down to how you personally relate to each color but we are going to discuss, generally, the most positive colors to place in your space!

Activating Positive Energy Into Your Space With Colors

1. Green

Green is a primary color that connects us to the world’s first ever creation - nature. Connection is the most important word when talking about the color green as it has the power to connect us to the Earth and to ourselves. Green evokes the feelings of tranquility and serenity. It is not a coincidence that humans escape their office and homes to go find a breath of fresh air in the greenery of forests and trails otherwise known as, “forest bathing.” Green is balancing and rejuvenating. Adding this color to your home is an act of self love as you allow yourself to relax, be grounded, and present with the atmosphere around you. Green is associated with the heart chakra and what the Sanskrit traditions call the Anahata. In Sanskrit, anahata means, “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten,” and is associated with balance, calmness, and serenity. An interior focused on a green color story is sure to be a restorative environment.
