The world is full of color, and like everyone else, you have your own likes and dislikes. You may have noticed that certain colors can alter your mood. What you may not realize, though, is that color can affect you subconsciously as well. In many cultures, color is used to promote health and wellness. For instance, some practitioners of feng shui and acupuncture incorporate the use of color in the form of gemstones, candles, fabrics and prisms. This practice, which is known as chromotherapy, is a form of alternative medicine that uses color and light to restore imbalances in an individual’s physical, mental, emotional or spiritual energy.

How different colors can impact your well-being

What animal represents honesty and truth?

The lion is associated with honesty, in part, due to a lack of duplicity in it's communications. Derived from the Latin honestas, or 'honored as a consequence of integrity'.

Animal behavior captures our imagination. The ‘choices’ animals make are essentially innate, but can inspire us to choose a better character. The lion is associated with honesty, in part, due to a lack of duplicity in it’s communications. Derived from the Latin honestas, or ‘honored as a consequence of integrity’. In the Book of Revelation 4:7, four creatures surround the Throne of the Almighty - the first one is a Lion. The lion communicates reliable signals: if the tail hangs down in a long flowing curve, with the tip pointing upward, it is on a peaceful stroll. If the tail sticks out straight, switching back and forth, he is looking for diner. The lion also uses their ears to tell what they are thinking: relaxed means ‘I’m good’, but ears pinned flat against the neck means imminent attack. Just one side of the lip curled is ‘nervousness’ (and a nervous lion is enough for me to hit the road), but a wrinkled nose, bare teeth... Is it deceitful to keep some situations private; are we compelled to spill our guts ‘to be honest’? Can the President say to a foreign leader ‘you know, to be honest, we are going to bomb you at 3 pm, but right now, let’s have lunch’? In 1964, Supreme Court Justice Stewart had a great take that is helpful in recognizing honesty (although he was speaking of another issue entirely): ‘I know it when I see it.’ The demeanor of a lion teaches us to be forthright about communications, because missed signals can be disastrous. As a ruler reports the same measurement every time, honest people answer the same, no matter the repercussions - it’s also practical, the truth always comes out in the end.
