Today, the Atkins Middle School sixth grader turns 11-- and today just happens to be 11/11/11. Tigner is lanky, blond, and blue-eyed. He’s quiet, but cheerful. His face lights up when he talks about his favorite sports teams -- anything from Detroit or the University of Michigan, he said-- or video games, and when he’s older, he wants to attend the University of Michigan and study engineering like his older brother, Wes.

His milestone birthday is exciting, Michael said.

“It’s pretty awesome. It’s better than having it on 6/6/6,” he said with a laugh. Tigner is the son of Tina Mainprize-Tigner of Bridgeport Township and Weslie Tigner of Burt.

He will celebrate his birthday with a dinner and sleepover.

“It’s a milestone,” Tina said. “You don’t get (a coincidence) like this often -- not too many people get to celebrate a birthday like this. It’s something not everybody can experience.” Maria Shaw-Lawson, a Mid-Michigan based, WIOG and WHNN and National Enquirer astrologist and numerologist said dates like 11/11/11, where the numbers are repetitious or sequential do not occur often. “In numerology, numbers have energy and the number 11 is a master number,” Shaw-Lawson said. “The number 11 is a divine number, and people born on 11/11 or have a strong 11 in their birth number are people who have a destined path, they’re usually here to do something very big in the world.” Today isn’t just special to people like Michael, who were born on this day, she said. Everyone is able to receive messages from the universe or “spirit guides” on strong days like 11/11 in numerology, she said. Shaw-Lawson said people should be especially aware of their surroundings and watch for “signs” today. The energy on Friday will help people understand their purpose more clearly, she said. “Be aware of what is around you, listen and look around and really think about what you want to do as far as far as your path, what you need to make and what you need to have,” Shaw-Lawson said. “A lot of people will meditate on this day, meditating, praying, spending time in reflective thought, they believe they’re going to harness the energy of their life. It will be interesting to see what happens. It’s going to be a cool day.”
