Every single person is using the power of intention in every moment of their lives, whether they are aware of it or not. Every time you think, you are intending your future life. Our thoughts are subject to the law of attraction, which is an impersonal law that unfailingly matches like with like. What you think is what you will attract into your life. Think constant thoughts of being in debt, and you will attract more debt. There is no time when this law is not operating, just like gravity. When you understand this magnificent law and how it works, you can begin to use it to your advantage intentionally. You will no longer use it unconsciously to your disadvantage by thinking about what you don’t want. And once you begin to use the power of intention, you set in motion universal forces through the law of attraction that will bring people, circumstances, and events to help you create the life of your dreams.

Intend your dream life in advance

Professional surfer Layne Beachley was just eight years old when she first set the intention to become world champion. In fact, it took the best part of two decades before she was able to put herself in a position to live her dream. Layne tells the story in Rhonda Byrne’s book, HERO: “It was 2001, and it was the final event of the year. I was in the quarterfinals and I fell on my last wave, which cost me the heat and which potentially cost me the title. I felt like I had let the whole world down, I was so deeply devastated.” At that point in the competition, Layne needed a miracle. Several of her competitors now had an opportunity to overtake her points total and claim the world title if they won the contest that day. But then her miracle appeared in the form of people, circumstances, and events, as she goes on to explain: “Pauline Menczer, the 1993 world champion, walked past me and said, “Don’t worry, we’ve got this covered.” She wanted to see me win that world title. She went on a rampage to demolish the competition, preventing anyone the opportunity to claim the world title. Pauline went on to win the contest, and handed me the world title in the process.” Layne was crowned world champion that day, just as she had intended as a child. In fact, she would win several more titles over the next few years before retiring from professional surfing as a 7x world champion.

For a good life, it’s so important to set a positive intention for your whole day. Without it, your day can automatically default to the negative. You can set the power of intention the night before, or as you wake in the morning. Just be sure to set it before you begin your day. For Rhonda Byrne, the process is quite simple, as she describes in her book, The Secret: “In the morning, when one foot touches the ground I say, “Thank,” and “you” as my second foot touches the ground. On my way to the bathroom, I say “Thank you.” I say and feel “Thank you” as I am showering and getting ready. By the time I am ready for the day, I have said “Thank you” hundreds of times. I am powerfully creating my day and all that it will contain. I am determining my day with gratitude and intentionally declaring the way I want my day to go, because gratitude attracts more things to be grateful for. ”

Ask yourself when you’re in conversation with someone, ‘Am I talking about what I want or what I don’t want?’ Ask yourself when you’re listening to the news, ‘Am I listening to what I want or what I don’t want?’ Staying focused on what you want for most of your day will keep you feeling good, keep you feeling optimistic, and keep you happy. And it will also accelerate the manifestation of anything you want.

Night

Before you fall asleep, you can give heartfelt thanks for the wonderful day you just had (no matter what kind of day you had). In addition, you can take that time to think about the next day, and intend that it is going to be wonderful. Then when you wake in the morning, declare your intentions for the day and give deep thanks as though you have received them. As you do this, you will begin to create your life deliberately. And then you will experience first-hand the power that is within you to create the life you want. Make setting intentions a daily habit to determine every day of your life in advance. Set the universal forces ahead of you in everything you do and everywhere you go by thinking and intending the way you want it to go in advance. Then you are creating your life intentionally. Have you set your power of intention for the day today? Or are you going to let today be governed by the thoughts of yesterday? If you don’t intend your day in advance then you are handing your future over to the whims and energies of any past bad habits of negative thinking. You are at the whim of mass consciousness, and your day will automatically default to the negative. Create your own magnificent day and life now with the power of intention.
